The catamaran day is the slow one. Fifty feet of boat, sails up across Samaná Bay, and two stops to get in the water: Cayo Farola, and a sunken ship that the fish have taken over.
The boat calls at Cayo Levantado, the small island in the middle of the bay that most people have seen in photographs before they ever get to Samaná, and then heads for the Cayenas del Mar beach club, where lunch and the open bar are waiting.
It is the tour to book if you want a day on the water without a quad, a horse or a hill involved. The same catamaran is also available privately — weddings on board are a regular request.
